Application Deadline for all scholarships is January 25, 2019 (23:59 PST) and all applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by March 8, 2019.

ISSTDR Fellowships

Eligibility:

Recipients will be outstanding early career researchers, typically advanced in their PhD candidature or within five years of receiving their PhD or clinical training. Through their CV, applicants will need to demonstrate a strong record of research achievements, including first-author, high impact publications and award of research funding. Up to five Fellowships are anticipated to be awarded.

Supporting Materials:

  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Must have abstract accepted for oral presentation at the Congress

Benefits:

  • Fellowship Certificate – presented in the Closing Session of the Congress
  • Complimentary Congress Registration
  • Fixed amount to assist with travel and accommodation expenses (max. $3,000 CAD)
BASHH (Ison) Fellowship

Eligibility:

This Fellowship was initiated at the London meeting in 2009 and is limited to UK researchers working in a microbiology field. The recipient will be an outstanding early career research microbiologist or clinical trainee with a significant laboratory component to their research. One or two Fellowships are anticipated to be awarded.

  • Must have abstract accepted for oral presentation at the Congress
  • Must be from the UK

Benefits:

  • Fellowship Certificate – presented in the Closing Session of the Congress
  • Complimentary Congress Registration
  • Fixed amount to assist with travel and accommodation expenses (maximum $3,000 CAD)
STI & HIV 2019 Congress Scholarships

Eligibility:

These awards will be made to PhD candidates and clinical trainees who have an oral abstract accepted for the Congress. Numbers will depend on availability of funds and sponsors’ requirements, but scholarships will be awarded in order of merit. Applicants will be required to produce evidence of their student enrolment or clinical trainee status. Factors that will be considered will include:

  1. Abstract score
  2. Studying or training in a low- or middle-income country (but not exclusively)
  3. Quotas and qualities required by sponsors

  • Proof of student or clinical trainee status
  • Must have abstract accepted for oral presentation at the Congress

Benefits:

  • Fellowship Certificate – presented in the Closing Session of the Congress
  • Fixed amount to cover complimentary Congress registration
  • Selected applicants will receive additional funds to help cover travel and accommodation expenses (maximum $3,000 CAD)

Please note: Prior to the final award of a Scholarship/Fellowship, recipients will need to provide proof of attainment of any needed visas required for travel to Vancouver Canada.
